If you are more fortunate than others,
build a longer table,
not a taller fence.
No one is born hating another person
Male terms for God
We know now that the God of Creation has shared power with us and remains with us to help us see life through. Our role is to do our part, to do our best, to trust the path. Our part is to become everything we are meant to be and so to make the world a better place because we have been here. ~Sr. Joan Chittister, Radical Spirit
The Book of Wisdom says that "She [Wisdom] can do all things and, while remaining in herself, she renews all things. In every generation she passes into holy souls and makes them friends of God and prophets."
On Vocations Sunday, we pray that the Church will hear the prophets of this age, speaking from the font of Holy Wisdom, as they make known the call of women to the priesthood so that the Church may be fully renewed. We ask for this great joy in the name of Jesus, our brother. Amen.

May you have the strength to push away the sod
And to climb up out of the chilly tomb.
May you respond to the trumpet call of God
And explode in life from death's chilling womb.
May each day have its own wonder and rebirth
Springing in surprise from reluctant earth.
And may the God of daily Resurrections
~ Andrew M. Greeley
The resurrection tells us it is never too late. Every so often we will be surprised. We must believe that the stone will be rolled back, and we must be ready to poke out our timid heads, take off the linen bindings of death, and walk free for a time, breathing resurrection air.
~Ronald Rolheiser, O.M.I.
Prayer: Our Deepest Longing
Mary of Magdala has come to be called "The Apostle to the Apostles" because it was to her that the angel at the tomb says that Jesus is risen. It is over 2000 years later. Men are still not listening to the spiritual insights of women. But women are still strong enough to stand by, to keep saying what they see, to keep telling men the will of God for both women and men even though "they will not believe them."
~ Joan Chittister, OSB
Veronica is said to have stepped out of the crowd . . . to wipe the sweat and grime from [Jesus'] eyes. . . . She haunts us with her courage. She pursues us with it. She insists on it. Nowhere are we to allow the Jesus figures of our day, the poor and the oppressed, to suffer where we are. It is a mandate more demanding than sinlessness. ~ Joan Chittister, OSB
"Jesus wept." Weeping signals that it is time to change things in life. Without our tears, we have no hope of healing because we do not begin to confront the anguish. ~Joan Chittister, OSB
Water does not resist.
When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress.
Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you.
But water always goes where it wants to go,
and nothing in the end can stand against it.
Water is patient.
Dripping water wears away a stone.
Remember that, my child.
Remember you are half water.
If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it.
The new heavens and the new earth
are not replacements for the old ones;
they are transfigurations of them.
The redeemed order is not
the created order forsaken;
it is the created order - all of it -
raised and glorified.
~ Robert Farrar Capon
We should every night call ourselves to an account:
What infirmity have I mastered today?
What passions opposed?
What temptation resisted?
What virtue acquired?
Our vices will abate of themselves
if they be brought every day to the shrift.
~Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow.
It empties today of its strength.
~Corrie Ten Boom
But inevitably, when I can't harm the people who harmed me, I just end up harming the people who love me. So maybe retaliation or holding on to anger . . . doesn't actually combat evil. Maybe it feeds it. In the end, . . . we can actually absorb the worst of our enemy and on some level even become them.
~Nadia Bolz-Weber, Pastrix: The Cranky, Beautiful Faith of a Sinner and Saint
All love is expansion,
all selfishness is contraction.
Love is therefore the only law of life.
[One]who loves lives,
[one] who is selfish is dying.
Therefore love for love's sake,
because it is the only law of life,
just as you breathe to live.
