Dorothy Day: The World Will Be Saved by Beauty: An Intimate Portrait of My Grandmother - by Kate Hennessy
The life and work of Dorothy Day—the iconic, celebrated, and controversial Catholic whom Pope Francis called a “great American”—told with illuminating detail by her granddaughter.
Dorothy Day (1897-1980) was a prominent Catholic, writer, social activist, and co-founder of a movement dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor. Her life has been revealed through her own writings as well as the work of historians, theologians, and academics. What has been missing until now is a more personal account from the point of view of someone who knew her well. Dorothy Day: The World Will Be Saved by Beauty is a frank and reflective, heartfelt and humorous portrayal as written by her granddaughter, Kate Hennessy. The book is available on Amazon

A PRAYER for WOMEN'S ORDINATION on the FEAST of the ANNUNCIATION
God of the Universe, long ago you spoke through an angel to your servant, Mary, who opened her entire being in response to your creative Word. In the gift of that Word, she carried Christ in her womb and into the world. Today you are speaking through your Spirit to the hearts of women around the world, inviting them to be Christ bearers to serve in the Sacramental Priesthood of the Church. They have heard you; and, like Mary, they hunger to respond with their entire being. Give courage and freedom to them and to the citizens of your church, both women and men, to open and embrace the sacred space that will make their priesthood a living reality in today's world, which waits in need of the gifts they are called to bring to your table. Amen.

In 2012, The Vatican censured American nuns, putting them under the supervision of conservative bishops. Radical Grace follows three U.S. nuns, sisters Simone Campbell, Chris Schenk, and Jean Hughes, who refused to back down and continued to challenge the patriarchal system. The nuns’ advocacy puts their lives at stake, at a tense time in the Church as a new Pope is being selected. However, they’re willing to lose it all and risk their place within the Catholic Church for their devotion to social justice and to meet their higher calling - to apply their faith to action.
