The Toledo Blade is a great newspaper with highly respected journalists. Their religion editor TK Barger has published supportive articles with respect to Roman Catholic Women Priests in general and our friend RCWP priest Beverly Bingle in particular. Barger recently referred to Beverly as a Roman Catholic Priest. Naturally the Toledo Diocese takes exception to this. They sent out the Rev. Monte Hoyles, along with his advanced degree in Canon Law, to make sure that Barger understood who can and can not be a Roman Catholic Priest. No surprises, in order to be “licit and valid, church law requires the ordained person to be male”. Therefor, Beverly, being female, doesn’t qualify. In his commentary The many forms of excommunication, Barger does an excellent job of explaining the position of the Roman Catholic Church Canon Law legal team regarding Women Priests. He’s also clearly sympathetic to the position of those of us who support the Ordination of Women. We love this line... As a Roman Catholic WomanPriest, Rev. Bingle will live her vision of what the Roman Catholic Church could be. full article We look forward to the day when the Roman Catholic Church will treat women as fully equal spiritual beings. Vatican, stop hiding behind man made "Canon Law". Do the right thing. ORDAIN WOMEN.
